“Perth medical specialist Dr John Rosenthal heads Rosenthal Wines which is a small part of the 180 ha. Springfield Park cattle stud situated between Bridgetown and Manjimup. He acquired the property from Gerald and Marjorie Richings, who in 1997 had planted a small vineyard as a minor diversification. The Rosenthals extended the vineyard to junder 5 ha, equally divided between shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. The wines, especially the Sparkling Shiraz, have had significant show success."
The Cabernets 2004 Rating 94

A very nice wine; rich, supple and smooth blackcurrant fruit supported by round, soft tannins; good oak; great finish and aftertaste.

Richings Shiraz 2004 Rating 90

Bright and clear colour; a vibrant fresh, medium bodied palate with predominantly red cherry and plum fruit; engaging and unforced.

Shiraz Cabernet 2002 Rating 89

Maturing attractively; spicy/earthy overtones to the still substantial foundations of red and black fruit; good tannins and oak.

Sparkling Shiraz 2003 Rating 89

Plenty of flavour; good balance to the spice and black cherry fruit; a longer time on lees would have produced an even better wine.
