Rosenthal Wines is a boutique vineyard located in the south west of Western Australia between Bridgetown and Manjimup, close to the well known Pemberton wine region.
In 1997, Gerald and Marjorie Richings fulfilled a long held dream by planting a small vineyard on the rich, loamy soils of their Springfield Park cattle stud. The Rosenthal family shared the Richings’ vision and passion. Upon their acquisition of the property in 2000, the Rosenthals expanded the vineyard and embarked upon the establishment of Rosenthal Wines.
The Richings remain an integral part of the Springfield Park operations today. Since 2003, our Reserve Shiraz has been named the Richings Shiraz in appreciation of the contribution the Richings make to Springfield Park and in recognition of the ties between the families.
From its inception, Rosenthal Wines has dedicated itself solely to the production of first class red wine, adhering to a simple, traditional approach to making wine. Our fruit is sourced solely from Springfield Park and aged in American and European oak. Each wine is peer tested by independent experts twice throughout the winemaking process, ensuring that our wine is worthy of our high standards.
The vineyard’s maiden vintage, comprising the 2001 Reserve Shiraz and 2001 Sparkling Red, was warmly received by wine enthusiasts and sold out. Subsequent vintages have also sold out shortly after release. The loyalty and repeat custom of our valued clients reflects our commitment to premium fruit and traditional winemaking methods. Our customer’s loyalty and keen judgment was endorsed when the Rosenthal Wines 2003 Sparkling Shiraz won the vineyards’ maiden gold medal in the sole class for sparkling wines (red and white) at the 2005 Sheraton WA Wine Awards.
We are delighted to have Dianne Miller of Porongurup Winery as contract winemaker and part of the Rosenthal Wines team. Dianne recently won (for the second time) the Lionel Samson/Plantagenet Trophy for Best Shiraz of Show at the 2005 Qantas Mt Barker Show for Best Shiraz. Dianne has been a winemaker with Porongurup for three years and previously worked at Peter Lehmann's in the Barossa Valley and Abbey Vale in Margaret River.
