2009 Naomi Shiraz Cabernet Score 91/100
A very good follow up to the 2008. This is even more refined and elegant with distinct perfumed minty notesand a silky smooth, efforttlessly long palate. Its well balanced fruit and oak integration is spot on. Excellent example of this blend. Score 91/100. Cellar seven years. |
2009 Naomi Shiraz Cabernet
The 2009 Rosenthal Naomi (80% Shiraz and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a lively red with gentle tannins and vibrant fruit. A delicious short term wine from South Western Australia with a suggestion of mint. Highly recommended. |
2009 The Naomi shiraz cabernet TASTING NOTES BY LEWIS BLAKE
Colour and Condition - the wine was deep crimson in the glass, with a purple tone attesting to its youth. The condition was excellent.
Bouquet - the nose was a subtle commbination of a berry fruit and French oak, initially subdued but developing in the glass.
Palate - the front palate was characterised by berry fruit, lifted by the fresh acid base. The middle palate was smooth and mouth-filling, and lacking in the somewhat acrid varietal characters that can dominate the Shiraz-based wines to their detriment. The finish was clean, slightly astringent, of good length and with the oak the most prominent feature.
Overall I found it to be a wine more subtle than it's predecessor, with all the necessary ingredients to mature well. It currently displays a freshness on the palate and is yet to fully integrate.
(Again) Congratulations on producing a stylish wine with such qualitiies. |

The naomi SHIRAZ CABERNET 2009 RATING 4½ stars, Score 91
Healthy crimson; an 80%/ 20% blend, with zest to the bright red cherry plum and cassis fruit flavours of its medium-bodied palate; well integrated French oak and fine tannins on the finish. |
