In 1997, Gerald and Marjorie Richings fulfilled a long held dream by planting a small vineyard on the rich, loamy soils of their Springfield Park cattle stud.

The Rosenthal family shared the Richings’ vision and passion. Upon their acquisition of the property in 2000, the Rosenthals expanded the vineyard and embarked upon the establishment of Rosenthal Wines.

The Richings remain an integral part of the Springfield Park operations today.

Since 2003, our Reserve Shiraz has been named the Richings Shiraz in appreciation of the contribution the Richings make to Springfield Park and in recognition of the ties between the families.

The vineyard’s maiden vintage, comprising the 2001 Reserve Shiraz and 2001 Sparkling Red, was warmly received by wine enthusiasts and sold out.

Subsequent vintages have also sold out shortly after release. The loyalty and repeat custom of our valued clients reflects our commitment to premium fruit and traditional winemaking methods.
